It’s Leap Day and I’m in Sofia, Bulgaria. I’m about to finish a two week deployment. It’s been 4 years since my last deployment here ended in the pandemic. I can hear the sound of planes flying over the hotel.

MapHappy Bulgarian Liberation Day. Today, Bulgaria celebrates the liberation of the country from the Ottoman Empire on March 3, 1878. It also celebrates my departure from Bulgaria this afternoon.
I like the idea of adding the kind of post to the RSS feed to identify it, although not everyone will. I’ve opened an issue to remind myself to explore a version of it in future. Working on a major change to the plugin now.

Sofia Synagogue
Opened in 1909, the Sofia Synagogue is one of the three largest in Europe. The Chandelier is supposedly the biggest in the Balkans.
On April 13, 1944, a bomb fell in the northeastern corner of the building, but did not explode. The building has been restored, and is used, but I could not find anyone who told me anything about services, if any.
