How Much You Should Tip in Every Situation

Bookmarked Here’s how much you should tip in every situation – Business Insider ([object Object])

If you’ve ever wondered how much you should tip a waiter, bartender, cab driver, hotel bellman, or barista, look no further.

I’d much rather the price of my meal included paying the server a fair wage,  making a tip a true gratuity rather than an obligation.

  1. I recently had the odd experience of eating at the same restaurant several nights in a row…made me realize just how arbitrary tipping based on % of the bill is. But restaurants want it that way because it forces their servers to push-sell you on desert, drinks, etc. Hate feeling guilty when I have “just water” or want to share an entree.

  2. I, also, would rather they were paid decently, and weren’t dependent on people remembering that’s how they make their money. As a waitstaff, you’re working hard all shift whether or not people remember to tip you. That’s not cool, when people just decide to not pay you.
