The End of Hitler

When the Germans began to lose the war, Hitler turned on his own people, destroying the last of their industry, communications, and transport systems so that if he did not survive, Germany should be destroyed.

On April 30, 1945, Hitler commited suicide in his bunker before the Allies could capture him. His aides burned his body along with that of his mistress.
