Jewish Emigration
The Germans established a National Central Office for Jewish Emigration. After the Nazis began to persecute Jews, many of them fled to neighboring European countries, which were later conquered by the Nazis.
USS St. Louis leaves Hamburg bound for Cuba. After being refused admission to Cuba and the United States, the Jews onboard returned to Europe. (Click here for video of the St. Louis returning to Europe), and most eventually ended up in concentration camps.
