Currently tracking with WordPress 6.2, they are committed to a leaner version of WordPress that focuses on a classic editor experience. Version 2.3.0 just came out, and updates dependent libraries, removes Javascript in favor of HTML5 elements…instead of layering on more and more client side Javascript to help things run.

Thank you for the nudge David, I really should just move my bookmarking site to ClassicPress. I cannot see any benefits to the block editor for this sort of stuff. At the very least, I feel like it is probably time for a shake-up of some of my outdated workflows.
